Ask the inhabitants of Ghent for the most beautiful and romantic spot and almost all of them will tell you to visit the Graslei. Where you can take a walk next to the Lys to enjoy the historic scenery of Ghent.
In summer known for the students enjoying every ray of sunlight, the ideal spot to relax after a long day of studying!
At night you can get lost in the romance of the well-lit buildings reflected in the Lys.

“The castle of the counts”
The castle built by Philip of Alsace in the middle of Ghent here will you get a real vibe of the Middle Ages. The castle is also very well known for its encampment by the students in 1949 where they came together to protest against the higher price of beer. Every year there is a remembrance called ‘Gravensteenfeesten’ where there’s a lot of beer for a very nice price!

It’s one of the oldest market squares in the city. You can see a statue of Jacob van Artevelde, one of the most famous political figures of Ghent.
